About Me

Nick Ladd is a Canadian artist and animator with a background in illustration and 3D animation, both of which he studied at Dawson College in Montreal. He combines his traditional art skills with his 3D skills using a specialized Virtual Reality painting software called Quill, which allows him to draw, paint, and animate on an infinite canvas directly in VR. This unique new approach to 3D artmaking has made him one of the top 40 most-followed artists on Sketchfab, and won him first place in Autodesk’s The Rookies competition in 2018. He has worked as a lead Quill artist and animator on a number of animated VR films including the award-winning, oscar-contending short film “Namoo” directed by Erick Oh, the world’s first animated VR series: “Tales from Soda Island” by Studio Syro, and “Four Stories” which he also wrote and directed. All of which are available for free on the Meta Quest TV platform. In addition to his illustration and animation projects, Nick also released a VR drawing application called Gesture VR and an UE5 project called "Li'l Ladds."
